My Story

I’m Tanya, a wife and mom to two wonderful children, and home educator since 2017. My strategy with homeschooling is to incorporate the things that public schools don't; the most important one being emotional intelligence. Since a very young age, my children have been taught many facets of mindfulness & meditation as a part of their daily regimen. I can’t imagine where we’d be without it!

 

I received my Bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge, where my studies included an emphasis on early childhood play & brain development. I received my Meditation Teacher Diploma in 2021 from the Centre of Excellence, trained in Soma breathwork, and I’m a certified Mindset Coach. After gaining experience teaching mindfulness/social-emotional learning to groups of children at local forest schools, I felt called to spread my teachings even further. In 2022 I started my private coaching business, MindMentor, to focus on teaching emotional wellness to kids & teens. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, many styles of dance, yoga, and traveling.

What I Do 

Welcome to MindMentor; Emotional Wellness Coaching for children & teens.

Being a child or teen can be tough. School, friends, and growing up can be challenging. That's why mindset coaching for children is so important. My coaching sessions are designed to help children & teens develop self-confidence, improve executive function, coping skills, resiliency, empowerment, and a growth mindset; much of this is done through mindfulness techniques.  

I believe that every child & teen has the potential to be great, and I want to help them reach their full potential. I assist my clients in overcoming any obstacles they may be facing, and teach them how to set goals, problem-solve, and think positively. I teach my clients how to use their bodies & minds as tools to navigate their own experience in a productive and meaningful way. The goal is for my clients to learn practical tools to prevent or combat anxiety, and live their best life. Coaching sessions are interactive and are filled with activities, role-playing, and discussions to make our time together enjoyable and relatable. A typical session also includes a small segment of time dedicated to meditation and breath work techniques.

Knowing that every person is unique, sessions are tailored to meet the individual needs of each child and/or teen.
